At the southwest corner of Islington Avenue and The Queensway in Etobicoke, RioCan's Verge Condominiums will soon bring new vitality to this area of town. While RioCan continues to register prospective purchasers for Verge's second phase tower, indicators at the site suggest that demolition may commence soon where the first phase is to be constructed.

While the south end of the site boasts a flagship Cineplex location (just out of view at the bottom of the image above), what currently sits along The Queensway frontage of the site is — from west to east — a Scotiabank, a Kelsey's restaurant, a Montana's BBQ & Bar and a Milestones restaurant. Recently, the Scotiabank to the west of the entrance road closed and relocated on the on other side of The Queensway just slightly further west. More recently, the Kelsey's to the east of the entrance road closed its doors for good too.

Looking at the site plan of the project, we can see where the Turner Fleischer Architects-designed buildings will sit on the property. Towers D and C and their shared podium in the image above are the first phase, to top out at 9 and 10 storeys respectively. Where Kelsey's operated will become am 1,850m² park, seen in the middle of the site plan. Towers B and A and their shared podium are to be the second phase, to include 10, 11, and 17-storey elements. The Montana's and Milestones, located where the second phase will rise, are continuing to operate for the foreseeable future.

Across the two phases of Verge Condos, the total unit count will be 545 suites. More information on the development will come soon, but in the meantime, you can learn more from our Database file for the project, linked below.
